Dr. Denise Gomez graduated from the University of Irvine Medical School and completed her residency at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. She holds memberships with the American College of Physicians, and the California Society of Healthcare Pharmacists. Dr. Gomez joined North County Health Services in June 2000, and is Practice Manager of Oceanside-Carlsbad Health Center.
Dr. Gomez chose to practice medicine at North County Health Services because of her desire to help people access quality medical care. She also wanted to work for a reputable community healthcare organization. She began her healthcare career as a pharmacist, but later realized that she could do more for her clients and the community if she were able to practice medicine in a community where the residents needed it. Following this realization, she entered medical school to become an internist. Dr. Gomez considers her transition from pharmacist to physician a “natural progression.”
Denise Gomez is a native Californian, and resides with her family in Vista. She enjoys reading, and horseback riding. Dr. Gomez volunteers at Being Alive and is involved in developing and implementing HIV standards of care for working groups.
