Barbara Palen
C.P.N.P., Nurse Practitioner
"One-on-one teaching is a very special part of my job."
A native of Syracuse, New York, Barbara Palen received her degree in nursing from Georgetown University. She completed her degree as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (C.P.N.P) at Children's Hospital in Washington, D. C.
One of the most significant aspects of her job is to establish open communication with her patients. "The most important thing is to make sure parents understand the developmental and nutritional needs of their children and the recommended treatments for illnesses," Barbara says. "Shared knowledge can make a big difference in the lives of our patients."
She is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and the California Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.
Barbara lives in San Diego and has four children. She enjoys camping, horseback riding and cooking. She volunteers in Girl Scouts and church groups.
